AR Renaissance Place Home Connect
Monitor your child's Accelerated Reading Progess through HomeConnect.
- Students can view their daily progress in reading at any time simply by accessing HomeConnect from any computer with Internet access.
- You can view goals, results of the last quiz taken and overall progress.
- You can find books that have AR Quizzes.
- You can view "My Bookshelf" which shows the books on which quizzes have been taken.
- Parents can monitor their child's Accelerated Reading Progress.
- Your child's AR username and password is your login to Home Connect. Click on the words below in Grey to access the site.
What is Renaissance Home Connect?
Instructional Letters will be sent home by Homeroom Teachers. This letter contains a username and password so you can sign up for HomeConnect. By signing up for Home Connect, parents can be notified with test scores when tests are taken.
Award Books
Caldecott Award Books: The Caldecott Medal was named in honor of nineteenth-century English illustrator Randolph Caldecott. It is awarded annually by the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association, to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children.
Coretta King Scott Award: Given to African American authors and illustrator for outstanding inspirational and educational contributions, the Coretta Scott King Book Award titles promote understanding and appreciation of the culture of all peoples and their contribution to the realization of the American dream.
Newbery Award Books: The Newbery Medal was named for eighteenth-century British bookseller John Newbery. It is awarded annually by the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association, to the author of the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children.
Texas 2 by 2 Reading List: Texas Library Association sponsors the 2x2 Reading List solely to encourage free voluntary reading for children ages 2-8. These selections were made from over 830 titles provided by publishers.
Texas Bluebonnet Award: The Texas Bluebonnet Award (TBA) reading program was established in 1979 to encourage Texas children to read more books, explore a variety of current books, develop powers of discrimination, and identify their favorite books.
Theodor Seuss Geisel Award Books: The award is named for the world-renowned children’s author, Theodor Geisel. "A person’s a person no matter how small," Theodor Geisel, a.k.a. Dr. Seuss, would say. "Children want the same things we want: to laugh, to be challenged, to be entertained and delighted."

All libraries in the Lake Dallas ISD use Destiny. This URL can be accessed from home. Just click on Lake Dallas Elementary to get the Catalog. Students can login from home to determine which books they have checked out and their due date.
You can search for book titles based on authors, topics, or titles of books. Just type what you want to search for in the blank field above and click Go. You will then be able to sort your search results. Find AR Books
Numerous stories can be read to children from the website Storyline Online Storyline Online, streams videos featuring celebrated actors reading children’s books alongside creatively produced illustrations. Readers include Viola Davis, Chris Pine, Lily Tomlin, Kevin Costner, Annette Bening, James Earl Jones, Betty White and dozens more.
